When you board the Scotrail Sprinter at Fort William Station, there's a distinct feeling that you are heading out into the unknown. Maybe its because, when you look out the window, you can see the line head off into the distant mountains. The journey starts like any other, with the train ambling past the backs of houses and past a few fields. You then cross a swing bridge which takes you across the loch. From here on in, you are out in the wilderness. Suddenly, the civilisation disappears and you enter the start of what some people call "one of the wonders of the world" - the train line between Fort William and Mallaig.
