Our day isn't quite over yet as we split from the Canadian American and head over to the St. Lawrence & Atlantic. Train No.394, with ex-Canadian National M420 3512 in charge, is in the rolling farmland west of Compton at 1725, wrapping up Day 2 of our Estrie odyssey.

Our main goal for April 7th is to shoot VIA train No.61, the Abitibi, which usually has a pair of FP9s for power. We're at Ste.-Thecle (north of Trois Riveres and Grand Mere) at 1200 when the Abitibi rolls past with FP9s 6307 and 6300 running elephant-style.

TT3411

At Hervey Jonction the Abitibi splits into two sections. VIA 6300 is ready to pull the first section out of Hervey Jonction at 1218 heading for Chicoutimi. In the background, VIA 6307 is backing onto the section bound for Senneterre.

TT3412

After the Abitibi is on its way, we hang around for a couple of freights. Canadian National train No.417, behind SD75I 5790 approaches the south end of Hervey Jonction at 1330. That's the church at Ste.-Thecle in the background.
