This section was set up on October 8, 1998.

The Grand Canyon Railway and Grand Canyon Chapter NRHS hosted their annual railfan weekend on October 2-4, 1998. Here are some highlights.


The event started on Friday evening, October 2nd, with GCRy's A-B-A set of Alco (MLW) FA's (FPA4s) posed on the bridge at Milepost 4. It was the first time all three units were together as a set.

Grand Canyon 2-8-2 4960 (former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy) was next on the bridge. Lighting was provided by Mike Del Vecchio with assistance from Steve Barry, Dave Busse and John Tully.

Grand Canyon's CMO Robert Franzen was engineer of 4960 on October 3rd, checking his train in the locomotive's side-view mirror.

The first runby of October 3rd featured 4960 at Pitt.

At the South Rim, GCRy 2-8-0 18 mjet the American Orient Express led by Amtrak P32 72 and a pair of F40s.
