This section was set up on August 13, 1999.

This is a sampling of action on the famed line over Tehachapi Loop in California. Coverage begins after the maintenance window was lifted at approximately 1:00 p.m. on June 29, 1999, and continues until the line was shut down for another maintenance window at approximately 9:00 a.m. on June 30th. The locations range from Caliente to Tunnel 10 just beyond the Loop. Not all trains are shown - this is only a sampling of the action.

On June 29, 1999, Burlington Northern & Santa Fe Dash 9-44CW 771 leads a train downhill approaching Caliente. A large sweeping horseshoe curve is just ahead.

At Bealeville, upgrade from Caliente, a flock of BNSF Dash 9-44CW's led by the 772 leads a train uphill.

TT2703

Several minutes later, the trio is halfway around the Tehachapi Loop at Walong. Momentarily, the locomotives will pass over their own train.

A rainbow of power, led by BNSF Dash 9-44CW 4379, is on a train heading uphill between Caliente and Tunnel 2. Five different BNSF paint schemes adorn the six units - a BNSF Heritage II, Burlington Northern standard green, BNSF Heritage I, BN green with a white "face," another Heritage I and a Santa Fe warbonnet .
