New York, Susquehanna & Western Chinese-built 2-8-2 142 powered four trips from North Bergen, New Jersey, to Baird's Farm near Warwick, New York, in the fall of 1998. Susquehanna's E9 duo of 2400 and 2402 (former Chicago, Burlington & Quincy) was on the east end of the train, giving 142 an occasional gentle push on the westbound trip and leading the return home.

Susquehanna 142 was leading the westbound trip across Overpeck Creek at Little Ferry, New Jersey, on November 7, 1998.

It's down, it's up and -- IT'S GOOD! Susquehanna's E9s split the uprights at the Marcal factory in Elmwood Park, New Jersey, for a field goal on October 24, 1998, trailing the westbound trip.

Giving a gentle push upgrade, the E9s smoke more than the 142 as they accelerate through the "mulch pile" at Ridgewood on October 24, 1998.

Rocking and rolling across the Ramapo, 142 has charge of the train through Oakland on October 24th.
