The Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Junction hosted a night photo session on June 23, 1999. Mike Del Vecchio coordinated the session. A Sacramento Northern streetcar posed at the museum's station for photographers.

Keeping with the Sacramento Northern theme, freight motor X654 posed with a couple of cars.

The flagship trip was to be an excursion through the Feather River Canyon hauled by UP 4-6-6-4 3985. Alas, it was sidelined due to safety concerns after stablemate 844 blew several flues, so Dash 8-40C 9326 was pressed into service. The eastbound trip was crossing the North Fork Viaduct outside Oroville on June 26th.

The classic UP trainset made a great sight as it traversed the scenic tunnels and bridges of the Feather River Canyon.

At Keddie the train was turned on the wye for the return trip. This excursion concluded the 1999 NRHS Convention.
