A wreck at Hayfield in 1963

In December of 1963(2?), the Mail train to Kansas City went over on it's side on some light rail, just south of the Hayfield section marker.

The crews worked 30 hrs straight before the line was open again. As it was shortly before Christmas, the baggage cars, Railway post office, and a box car were full of holiday mail.
These photographs appeared in the Hayfield Hearld.

This photograph shows the x250 heavy crane involved in picking up the pieces.
