One of a trio of fully enclosed home-built snow spreaders, sometimes called "snow dozers," the 042 was...constructed in 1913 using the steel underframe of a 17401-17494 series flat car which had been built for the RGW by Pressed Steel Car in 1901, but it was rebuilt in 1941 using the underframe of a wrecked CB&Q forty-foot automobile boxcar
