They are gearing up as fast as they can to complete EA, start scoping the other corridors, and finalize specs on the upcoming train order, Track and signal improvements are being negotiated between the RTA and BNSF by a joint working group HQ'ed in the RTA bldg. Also detailed was RTA staff assignments and responsibilities of each within the CR dept.
OLD BUSINESS: The merger is completed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Section Organization was discussed, with the consensus being that the VP, Coordinators, City Leads, Members, Special Projects was a good start for now, and may be modified in the future as needed.
Membership action was discussed. Our outreach to existing CPRC and WashARP members is important to forming the core group of the section. Reaching out to new members, and getting attendees to sign up for the section (a nominal $10 donation to cover expenses) is a priority.
Funding Sources through chambers(special thanks to Edmonds/$100) and other associations will begin. Grant writers are requested for their special talents.
Education Workshop has been set for May 27th. The subject will be "Station Area Development Impacts - Lessons to be learned from Experience" Suggestions for workshop content and participants were also discussed, with several good prospects to pursue.)
Future Opportunities for the Section include station design and area development in each of the communities. Each city will have a TAC (Technical Advisory Committee), with participation of local stakeholders. Our opportunity to be heard will be most effective at that level. Other areas for our consideration are system operation (from the passengers viewpoint), integration with existing transit providers, and coordination with intercity passenger rail service.
