Public Landing Area

The Public Landing was a very busy place.  One had to be very careful to watch, look and listen as he or she had to look out for both automobile traffic and the trains moving slowly through the streets.

The photo on the right is a closeup of the lower right corner of the center photo. The locomotive in both the left and right photos is the same locomotive. The block signal is probably designed as a cool down spot for the locomotive as I did not notice a second train on the same track loop.

Cincinnati Transit

Cincinnati Transit used a variety of vehicles in the 1930's through the '50s. There were the street cars that were later replaced with sleek PCC cars, trolley buses, diesel buses and even a subway was started but never completed.

Due to the steep hills around the city there were several locations where incline tracks like shown in the photos below. All of the street cars were replaced by diesel buses except for a few trolley bus routes by the early '50s on both Cincinnati Transit and The Dixie Traction Co. routes.

The Mt Adams incline was located on Cincinnati's east side.
