My dad had a friend who was a conductor for the CNW that worked out of
Butler. I believe it was a Saturday afternoon, he invited my dad, mom, and
I to get a ride in the cab. It turns out that I was able to sit on the engineers
lap and actually "control" the locomotive. I say control meaning
that the engineer held my hand as he was controlling the locomotive. This
is probably one of my earliest memories. Specific details like locomotive
number and locomotive type are unknown to me. The picture is pretty bad
too. But this picture probably marks the day the Rail Nut seed was planted!
