Saint Paul, Minnesota is one of the famous Twin Cities, located along the Mississippi River, half-way between the East and West Coasts. The Northwoods region with its pine forests and abundant lakes is prized as an ideal vacation area for visitors across the country. The Twin Cities were recognized by James J. Hill as the ideal gateway to the rich farmlands of the West, and became a major national center of railroad activity and gateway to the Northwest. Theaters, art museums, the Minnesota Transportation Museum, Twins Baseball, the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Minnesota Zoo, the Mall of America and much more are available in town.
The Twin Cities are easily accessed by train, plane and interstate highway. Minneapolis International Airport is the national hub for Northwest Airlines, and Saint Paul is still served daily by Amtrak's Empire Builder service from both Chicago and points West. Interstate Highways I35E and I94 intersect in the Twin Cities near the Convention site.
The 1999 NMRA National Convention is scheduled for July 18 - 25, 1999 at Riverplace not too far distant from the Kelly Inn (shuttle bus service will be available). Registrants for the Lake Special 99 will be allowed access to the NMRA clinics, contest rooms and trade shows at NO extra charge, during the duration of the NASG convention. Attendance on NMRA tours will be extra.
