Carrigaline, parish and village on the Annaboy, Kerrycurrihy and Kinalea baronies, South county Cork, Ireland, 6 miles south of Cork ; acreage 14,498 ; soil fertile, and most of the area under cultivation. Clay-slate and limestone are quarried. The church (1824) is in the Perpendicular style, and there are several schools. Fisheries are carried on, and there is a good local trade in corn and provisions. Four annual fairs are held. The castle was founded during the reign of King John. Population (parish): 3,778. Population (village): 454. |
