NYS&W Rail Action

Pictures of NYS&W Rail Action

If I am correct, this is the NYS&W yard at Bingamton, NY in November 1992. The enginehouse is the building in the background with the large white overhead door on it. The old Lackawanna station is the building in the foreground on the right. You can see which tracks are the main line. NYS&W #1804 switches cars in the Passaic Junction "yard" in November 1992. This view is looking west.
Looking south off of Route 46 Bridge into Little Ferry Yard in November 1992. The NYS&W tracks are on the right. The West Shore (River Line) tracks are on the left. The railroad crossing visible just over top rail of the Rt 46 bridge is Kendricks Causeway. You can see the NYS&W and River Line bridges over Overpeck Creek. Although CSX Intermodal/ Sealand owned the Little Ferry Yard at this time, note the large number of covered hoppers on the tracks just over the NYS&W bridge. On the day that this picture was taken, Passaic Junction was also fairly full of covered hoppers. However, in November 1994, the Passaic Junction "yard" had even MORE covered hoppers in it. This engineer was busy switching cars at the Passaic Junction "yard" in November 1992. The crew was very friendly. This "yard had about 8 tracks in it at the time. While I'm sure sure if true, I was trold that many of these tracks were added after NYS&W sold it's Little Ferry Yard to Sealand a few years before.
O&W 116 and NYS&W 120 at Ridgefield Park engine terminal in November 1992.

Old Rahway Valley #16 in 1994, when it was on a siding just west of Passaic Junction.
NYSW 257 headed east through Rochelle Park, NJ. The third locomotive was a very noisy NYSW B40-8. The first two locomotives were NS. Notice RDC M-1 on the siding to the left of the train. Taken in November 1994. NYSW 1802 in Rochelle Park with a local, headed east. Taken in November 1994.
Cannibalized NYSW 3002, Utica, 1992. Overview of NYSW Shops in Utica, NY, in late 1992. In the bottom left corner, there is the black hulk of a ex-N&W SD45.
