Museum of the American Railroad (formerly the Age of Steam Museum), Dallas This museum is located at Fair Park, Dallas. It began when the T&P donated 2-10-4 #638 to the City of Dallas in 1953. |
Today, the museum has an impressive collection of locomotives and rolling stock... |

Among its many other items, the museum also has a classic GG-1 from the PRR (they traded T&P 909 (2nd) for it), and a UP Big Boy, #4018.

The Marshall depot houses the T&P Museum; it is also still used as a station for Amtrak's Texas Eagle. |
The museum has hosted reunions of former T&P employees. They are currently working with the City of Marshall on a project to cosmetically restore Engine 400 (2nd). |

Like all facilities operated by Texas Parks and Wildlife, the TSRR has been severely affected by budget cuts. |
Their website says that no operations are planned after Aug. 31, 2007. Call for details - (800) 442-8951. |
A plan is underway to contract with a private service to operate the railroad. We'll try to update this information as more details become available. |

The TSRR is also home to two T&P engines, including their #201, formerly T&P #316, the only T&P steam engine still operating. |
The engine was built in 1901 by AL Cooke Locomotive Works as T&P 4-6-0 #316. It became Paris & Mt. Pleasant #316 in 1949, then displayed as Abilene & Southern #75 in 1956, before being donated to the TSRR in 1974. |
 * Engine 610 is listed as "stored in serviceable condition." They bring her out for exhibit on most weekends. |
