see: F-3 28  - CHILLICOTHE IL - 05/00/1950 - {Gary Stuebben Collection}
Some units occasionally received high-profile fans in later shop swaps.
31L,C-36L,C delivered with 2 portholes, horizontal louvers in the space between the portholes, horizontal stainless steel top panel grilles, rectangular Dynamic Brakes, low-profile fans and short warbonnet.  Some units occasionally received high-profile fans in later shop swaps.
The top panel grilles, Fans and Dynamic Brakes on B units matched the A units as delivered.
By 1948, 16L,C-21L,C units had the center porthole removed, and "chicken wire" installed between the portholes covering 4 openings.
see: F-3 18 - CHILLICOTHE IL - 05/00/1950 - {Gary Stuebben Collection}
By 1951/1952, all units with the chicken wire center panels had them removed and replaced with horizontal (at least 19L) or vertical louvers(most others);  at that time Stainless Steel grilles were added to the top panels. see: F-7A 17C - San Bernardino CA - 5/20/62 {Bob Rathke Collection}
Some top panel grilles were removed from 200-class units 260-267 for this.
The photo of 18L at the top of this page shows the result of the 1951/1952 modifications.
Some units had the rectangular Dynamic Brakes replaced with fans, including 36" and 48" low-profile, and one or more with 48" GP-35 style fans.
28C (301C) and 34(L? 302C) or (C? 313C) both had freight-style pilots.
