News Archive: 3rd quarter 2003

Sept. 30 — Updated and expanded the descriptions of ultradomes and single level domes. Also, I have added dimensional data for all of the single level domes. (See the Sept. 27 update.)

Sept. 29 — Finally added the tour of Holland America cars 1050 and 1051. I hope you enjoy them.

Sept. 28 — Expanded the roster information for the following cars: Royal Celebrity Tours (RCIX) 1001, 1002, 1003 and 1004. With that, the roster pages are nearing completion. I still desperately need photos of the Princess fleet, as well as answers to some specific questions about their cars.

Sept. 27 — Uploaded expanded roster pages for the following cars: Alaska Railroad 551, 552, 553, 554 and 2000, and VIA 1720, 1721, and 1722. Many thanks to Ben Wang for the photo of the 1720.

Sept. 24 — The correct roster information is now up for the following Princess series I cars: 7080, 7081, 7082 and 7083. Enjoy!

Sept. 20 — Rumors of a confirmed order for coaches for the Alaska Railroad have been overstated in the railfan press. Officially, we can expect a firm decision on ordering more coaches some time in December. I would speculate that any coaches ordered will be of the single level dome variety.

Sept. 1 — Happy Labor Day. A tour of Rocky Mountaineer 9509 is online.

August 17 — The tour of DMU demonstrator 2002 is now online. Other tour files will follow.

August 11 — This site officially goes online amid minimal fanfare. (E-mail pluggers will follow soon.) RMR 9521 is in Montana enroute.

August 7 — Rocky Mountaineer's new car, 9521, has been handed over to its new owners. As of this evening, the car is sitting at Denver Union Station awaiting pickup by BNSF to be moved to Vancouver, BC.

July 20 — Back from a short trip to BC with news about Rocky Mountaineer's two new cars. RMR 9521 is expected to be delivered Aug. 7 in Ft. Lupton, CO., while the 9523 is due next February. Both cars will ship to BC via CN. Also, the next four cars for Holland America are expected to be delivered in March of 2004.

July 19 — Colorado Railcar will be building several DMU cars for a commuter agency in Orlando, Fla. I'm not clear about the specifics, but the Orlando agency will be testing the DMU concept more thoroughly with a complete set. As I understand it, the cars are to feature the wraparound windows so dearly loved on this site.

July 8 — This site unofficially finds its way to its new home on the web. Target launch date is August 4, 2003.

July, 2003 — We are awaiting the delivery of at least one new car for Rocky Mountaineer Railtours. (I have heard conflicting reports that the order is for two cars...)
