Centrex / ISDN Team --During my time in Switch Maintenance / Central LNC and Activation I became involved in ISDN and Centrex. This happened more by default than anything as no one else wanted to take on the then new technologies. When the restructure happened and Activation was set up I met up with a like minded colleague who came in from the suburban exchanges. We put our heads together and presented a business case to set up a dedicated team to look after complex provisioning and fault work. Part of our proposal was taken on board and a team was set up. This team remained in place for about 5 years until the complex service centre was created.
Centrex I QIT-- During my time as a Centrex / VPN coordinator I was invited to be involved in a Quality Improvement Team which was looking into improving provisioning times for Centrex. I was team leader of this QIT and made my first presentation to Don Van Gilder and the Quality Leadership Team. The result of this QIT was to reduce Centrex provisioning time to 3 Days from 7 Days.
Complex Service Review -- I was seconded to the complex service review project lead by Ian Linning in 1995. The purpose of this project was to look at the end to end process's of Telecoms complex services using Business Process Re engineering (BPR) methodology and recommend a new structure to best meet Telecoms needs then and in the future. The business case put forward was to set up a Complex Service Centre in Auckland with an Annex in Christchurch for diversity. The business case was approved with a budget of a little over $8M and these centres have been operational for 4 years now.
Super Achievers -- As the sole Centrex / VPN sale specialist I went to Super Achievers in 1998. Significant sales that contributed to this was working with Tony Unkovich in the Carter Holt Harvey RFP response in which voice communications for the group were standardised on Meridians PABX's and Centrex with a VPN. Contributions to significant Centrex sales in Wellington and Christchurch were also key to this.
22 January 1998 -- This was the birth date of my daughter. Although my contribution on this particular day was secondary it was a significant event for me.
Global Office -- While in the Centrex Sales Specialist role I was involved in developing the Global Office packages and putting the initial customer trials into place.
