Greg Moore

Telecom New Zealand Limited

But does he have a life?

I have been married for 5 years (my Wife's name is Rachel).  I have a 2 year old daughter, Gemma, and we are owned by a cat, Humphrey.

We live in a 3 bedroom house on a basement in Massey.

The significance of the basement is that I am a 'Westie' at heart and as such an avid petrol head.  I am restoring a 1961 Ford Galaxie Starliner .  This is a "Little" Galaxie sports coupe that was Fords first salvo into the Muscle car era of the 60's.

I am also rebuilding a Norton Commando motorcycle which is getting dangerously close to the road.

My other major interest is building a Model Railroad .  This is starting to fill a 36' by 12' space in my basement.  This layout is N scale (1:160) based on the Union Pacific owned Western Pacific RR.  This layout is controlled by DCC (Digital Command Control) which turns the tracks into a CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access Collision Detect) LAN, similar to Ethernet, with decoders installed in each locomotive.  This technology opens up opportunity for Computer control of the layout.

I have a web page that I update my friends on what I'm doing.  I am currently running a critique on a yard design with the Layout design special interest group which is a part of the NMRA, this is a North American based organisation which sets and maintains the Standards and Recommended Practices for the hobby.
