32k a closer view (14k)
A brakeman attaches an EOT to a train.

A wider view of the above. This is just north of the Y tracks and diamond--the switch stand is for one of the Y's (the leg that connects the west side of the diamond to the south side). The cars in the background are on Rockingham Co-op's siding.

The near track that runs toward straight under the train is the other Y track and is out of service. I'm not sure why this is out of service as it would make Harrisonburg operations much easier, but it has a "locked out by MoW" label on it. There is a gravel road/grade crossing over this leg, which is where I took the photo from. This leg of the Y connects the east side of the diamond to the south side.

A local train heading towards downtown.

The same train, switching cars.

20k
A train w/ a short string of cars heading toward the diamond.

V93 heads south, towards the SVRR interchange. The train is stopped just short of the Maryland ave crossing.

20k
V93 now crosses Maryland Ave. Notice that the brakeman is flagging traffic; this is a very common occurance in Harrisonburg.

UPDATE ON THE CROSSING SITUATION: This crossing, along with many others, now has lights, bells and gates.

V93 heading south...

A locomotive waits for permission to move and the brakeman has a rest.

This is the diamond. The train is facing North, toward the yard and dispatchers office. The line to the left runs through JMU's campus and ultamitely to Elkton, Va.

The CW logo painted on the side of their dispatch building...
