Train A37 crosses the KCS interlock returning from Tamko running long hood forward. Note the brakeman on the back step of the loco, the abandon tower, and the KCS train in the distance, up the track. The tower has been abandon for 15 to 20 years now (from the ICG days); KCS is the current owner and has plans to ... someday ... tear it down (but they've had these plans for the past 15 years...).
(A37 is Alabama local job 37--the day switcher for Tuscaloosa. A38 is the night switcher, and starts work at 5pm; both work 6 days/week).
KCS maintains the interlock trackwork and NS controls it (they have priority in using it). A new diamond (the actual diamond-shaped peice of track) has been ordered and should be installed before the years end.

Jeff Robertson was out railfanning one day and called me, told me he forgot his camera, that I should grab my camera and get to the tracks... I barely arrived in time to snap this shot (not very good) of Army tanks going by.
