ACTON WORKS OPEN DAY
'These photographs were all taken on the occasion of the London Transport Golden Jubilee Gala at Acton Works on 3 July 1983. A lot of the service stock had been specially repainted in the new yellow livery for the occasion. Note the picture of R stock car 22679, one of the original unpainted aluminium ones. You can just see where the waist level red strip used to be, and where it formed a V on the cab end.
The LURS preserved Q35 (previously N stock) trailer coach was on display in partly renovated condition.
The general views of the works of interest, because it was only the following year that a decision was made to transfer overhauls to depots.'
